Meet my Hero ✰

What makes a man a "Hero"? Before when we hear the word “Hero”, the automatic figure that comes into our minds are those warriors who wear metal equipments such as helmets, breastplates, shields and those super humans who holds their own swords and katanas, and their own supernatural powers in addition. But then I believe nowadays those kind of Heroes doesn’t exist in real life anymore. They do exist in games and movies but in real life? I don’t think so. We already have this new view of a hero. Who are these people that we consider as Heroes nowadays?

OFWs, they endure homesickness and work hard to earn money for their family’s living and that even though they are half way around the world from them they wouldn’t mind the pain just to earn money for their families and give them a better life.

Nurses & Doctors, they save people’s lives. And most of the time they even sacrifice their own time for their family just to help other people.

National Athletes, they work really hard to train themselves to get better in their own careers and holding the name of our mother land, they compete internationally and most of the time, they bring honors back in our country which makes them one kind of our very own Heroes.

Most of us consider these people as our very own Heroes and we, of course, appreciate and are proud of all the hard works they do and all the sacrifices they have made.

But who is my Hero? Who is this person that I consider as my very own Hero?

My personal Hero is the only person who brought me here in the Earth and the person who watched me grow up and was with me all along. My mother.

If I were to list all the things she has done for me all these years, I bet a day isn’t even enough for all of it. All the sacrifices and the hard work, all the time and energy that she spent, everything is priceless.

I haven’t reached a year old way back then when my Dad left home to work overseas. I grew up with only my Mom and my two older siblings. So whenever we have problems, financially in specific, I witness all the hard works that my Mom did. Yet, behind those hard works and that fighting spirit that she had, I knew that behind all those is the pain that she has been going through. And she had to face all these alone. But I never seen her give up. I've never seen her cry in defeat. Instead, I’ve seen someone who was strong enough to face everything that she has been going through, holding on to God’s promises.

I personally think she surpassed all the supernatural powers that Wonder Woman and Darna had. She deserves to get her very own title because of this. Haha. My mother is amazing and I can’t explain how much I love her and how much I am thankful that I became one of her children as I fall short of words.

A hero, for me isn’t really someone who will be able, and willing to die for someone, but rather someone who will be able to survive and live for someone.

She’s my hero. And this is my very own definition of a Hero. :)
